Solitaire, also known as Klondike or Patience, is a card game where the goal is to arrange cards in a specific order by suit and rank. This game, familiar to many from childhood, especially thanks to Windows, has existed for several centuries and remains one of the most popular card games today.

Brief history

The history of solitaire dates back to the 18th century. Its origins are linked to France and Germany, where solitaire games were a popular pastime among the aristocracy. Initially, solitaire was purely a table game, played with real cards. In the early 19th century, as card games spread across Europe, Solitaire’s popularity grew significantly.

However, Solitaire gained true global fame in 1990 when it was included in the Windows 3.0 operating system. The goal was simple — to help users practice using the mouse and windows, which were new at the time. Solitaire quickly became not only a learning tool but also a way to relax while at the computer.

Brief Rules

The game is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The goal is to build four stacks of cards by suit, starting with an ace and ending with a king. On the board, cards are arranged in descending order, alternating colors (e.g., a red queen on a black king). Additional cards can be drawn from the deck to continue the layout.
